◆ About the Brand

What is Tamgo?

Tamgo is a branded pharmaceutical product by Inspiron Scientific Pvt. Ltd. containing Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4mg in prolonged-release tablet form. Tamsulosin is a highly selective alpha-1A adrenoceptor antagonist that specifically targets the smooth muscle of the prostate gland, bladder neck, and prostatic urethra to relieve lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).

The prolonged-release formulation ensures consistent drug release over 24 hours, maintaining steady therapeutic plasma concentrations for all-day symptom relief with just one tablet daily. Tamsulosin’s high selectivity for alpha-1A receptors means it effectively relaxes prostate smooth muscle with minimal impact on blood pressure, making it one of the most well-tolerated treatments for BPH worldwide.

Detailed Product Information

Everything healthcare professionals and patients need to know about Tamgo — from composition and mechanism of action to clinical benefits and administration guidelines.

Composition & Formulation
Active Ingredient:
• Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4mg

Dosage Form: Prolonged-Release Tablets
Release Technology: Modified Release (MR)
Route: Oral Administration
Category: Alpha-1A Adrenoceptor Antagonist
Marketed by: Inspiron Scientific Pvt. Ltd.
Mechanism of Action
Tamsulosin HCl is a highly selective alpha-1A adrenoceptor antagonist. It works by selectively blocking alpha-1A adrenergic receptors that are predominantly located in the prostate gland, bladder base, prostatic capsule, and prostatic urethra.

By blocking these receptors, Tamsulosin relaxes the smooth muscle in these areas, reducing urethral resistance and improving urine flow without significantly affecting blood pressure — unlike non-selective alpha blockers.

The prolonged-release formulation provides consistent plasma levels over 24 hours for sustained symptom control.
Therapeutic Indications
Tamgo is indicated for the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH):
  • Difficulty in initiating urination (hesitancy)
  • Weak or interrupted urine stream
  • Frequent urination (increased frequency)
  • Urgency — sudden strong need to urinate
  • Nocturia (nighttime urination)
  • Sensation of incomplete bladder emptying
  • Straining during urination
Key Clinical Benefits
  • Rapid symptom relief — noticeable improvement in urinary symptoms within 1–2 weeks of treatment
  • Improved peak urinary flow rate (Qmax) — clinically significant increase in urine flow
  • Significant improvement in IPSS scores (International Prostate Symptom Score)
  • High alpha-1A selectivity — minimal impact on blood pressure; no need for dose titration
  • Prolonged-release formulation — steady drug levels over 24 hours for consistent all-day relief
  • Well-established global safety profile — one of the most prescribed alpha blockers worldwide
Dosage & Administration
Recommended Dose: One tablet (0.4mg) once daily.

Administration: Take approximately 30 minutes after the same meal each day (preferably after breakfast). Swallow whole with a glass of water — do not crush, chew, or break the tablet as this destroys the prolonged-release mechanism.

Dose Titration: No dose titration is required. Start directly with 0.4mg once daily.

Missed Dose: If a dose is missed, skip it and take the next dose at the usual time. Do not double the dose.

Duration: As directed by the physician. Long-term use is generally required for sustained benefit.
Storage & Packaging
Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. Do not store in the bathroom.

Packaging: Available in alu-alu blister pack for optimal product protection and stability.

Shelf Life: As mentioned on the pack. Do not use after the expiry date.

Disposal: Do not dispose of unused tablets in household waste or wastewater. Consult your pharmacist for proper disposal methods.
◆ Patient Awareness

Understanding Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is a common, non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland that affects men as they age. The prostate surrounds the urethra, and when it enlarges, it can squeeze or partially block the urethra, leading to bothersome lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) that can significantly impact quality of life if left untreated.

BPH is not prostate cancer and does not increase the risk of cancer. However, it can cause considerable discomfort and inconvenience. The dynamic component of BPH — increased smooth muscle tone mediated by alpha-1A adrenergic receptors — is the primary target of Tamgo (Tamsulosin HCl 0.4mg), which selectively relaxes these muscles to restore normal urine flow.

Common Symptoms of BPH

Recognizing the signs early can lead to timely treatment and better outcomes. Consult your doctor if you experience any of the following:

Frequent Urination
Needing to urinate more often than usual, especially noticeable during the day with frequent bathroom visits.
Nocturia
Waking up multiple times during the night to urinate, disrupting sleep patterns and affecting daily energy levels.
Weak Urine Stream
A noticeably reduced force or flow of urine stream, making urination take longer than expected.
Urgency
A sudden, strong need to urinate that is difficult to delay, causing anxiety and limiting daily activities.
Difficulty Starting
Hesitancy or straining when trying to begin urination, requiring extra effort to initiate the flow.
Incomplete Emptying
A persistent feeling that the bladder has not fully emptied after urination, causing discomfort and repeat visits.
● Mechanism of Action

How Tamgo Helps

Tamgo works through a targeted mechanism to deliver rapid and sustained symptom relief by selectively acting on prostate alpha-1A receptors.

1
Selective Receptor Binding
Tamsulosin HCl selectively binds to alpha-1A adrenergic receptors concentrated in the prostate, bladder neck, and prostatic urethra.
2
Smooth Muscle Relaxation
By blocking alpha-1A receptors, Tamsulosin relaxes the smooth muscle tone in the prostate and bladder neck, reducing urethral resistance.
3
Improved Urine Flow
Relaxed muscles open the urinary pathway, significantly improving peak urinary flow rate (Qmax) and relieving LUTS symptoms.
4
24-Hour Sustained Action
Prolonged-release formulation ensures steady drug levels throughout the day and night for consistent, round-the-clock relief.
Important Safety Information
